Meteora is one of the top ancient sites for stargazing

National Geographic published a list with the 8 top ancient sites for stargazing and included a Greek destination as one of the best in the world to explore the starry sky. More specifically, the famous Meteora is an ideal place from which visitors can admire a sky full of stars.

As the article points out, “This could be a scene out of science fiction—insanely isolated monasteries on top of giant natural rock pillars. Meteora means “in the heavens above.” Located near Kalambaka, it’s an amazing place to appreciate the stars as they have been viewed by thousands of monks who have lived here since the 11th century”.
