Private Island tour of Sifnos

We will pick you up from your hotel and immediately begin our tour in Sifnos heading East, in order to visit the historic village of Kastro, the most picturesque area of Sifnos.

Life there continues independently since the prehistoric times. Kastro is located on top of a rocky plateau with steep mountain slopes and unique panoramic views of the surrounding islands. The village of Kastro was the capital of the island until 1836. At the southern part of the hill, we will find Seralia, the ancient port of Sifnos. We will walk through the beautiful alleys of Kastro and visit the Archaeological Museum which includes exhibits from the 1st to the 6th BC.

We continue our tour to the traditional village of Artemonas, almost untouched by modern life. While wandering around Artemonas, we will see the old aristocratic neighborhood and admire the neoclassical, built more than 200 years ago, villas painted in traditional Cycladic colors.

Upon finishing the exploration of Artemonas, we will visit the most important archaeological site of Sifnos; the Mycenaean Acropolis. Located on the top of a hill known as the “Kastro of Ai-Dria” (St. Andrew’s Castle), is the best-preserved Mycenaean fortification site in the entire Cyclades complex. The excavations brought to light a large part of a 12th century BC Mycenaean wall. Inside the wall there are the ruins of five houses. At the entrance of the archeological site there is a museum, which displays the findings discovered during the excavations.

Near the archeological site is the beautiful, 1701 built church of Agios Andreas, that offers a unique view of the Aegean Sea and the surrounding settlements of Sifnos.

Last destination is Apollonia, a traditional settlement and capital of the island. It is built amphitheatrically on three hills, standing out for its beautiful, traditional architecture. Everywhere the simple decoration offers a set of unique aesthetic value.

We will return to the hotel and we are sure that the sounds of the past and the present in combination with the images of Sifnos will be etched in your memory and you will definitely visit us again.
