The minimum rental period is 24 hours. Any additional delays are charged as an extra day.

If the renter wishes to keep the rented vehicle longer than the period he has agreed to, he must contact the local Miles Away Travel agency, from where he received the vehicle, to record the extension of the rental and sign the new lease agreement.

Minimum age limit is 23 years and a maximum of 75 years. Driving licenses must be issued one year before the rental date. If the driver is not a resident of the European Union, he is required to bring an international license so that he can lawfully drive in Greece.

In order to rent a vehicle, a credit card (Visa or Master Card) is required (350,00 € safety deposit for car rentals with third party insurance, € 750,00 safety deposit for car rentals in the Groups A, E with Collision Damage Waiver or € 1.500,00 safety deposit for car rentals in the Groups F, U with Collision Damage Waiver) even if the payment is made in cash. Miles Away Travel will charge any damage-related costs occurring at end of the rental. The safety deposit will be returned to the credit card within 14 days from its release date, depending on the issuing bank’s policy.

The rent can be paid by credit, debit or prepaid card (Visa or Master Card), cash, bank deposit at least 21 days before the start of the rental period.

A prepayment of 30% of the total rental price is required to complete a reservation.

Regardless of the payment method chosen by the renter, a credit or debit card (Visa or Master Card) is required for warranty purposes. Miles Away will charge any costs occurring by liability of the renter at the end of the rental.

The fuel is calculated at eighths. The vehicle should be returned with the same amount of fuel as it was delivered. Otherwise, charges of € 12,00 plus the cost of the missing fuel will be applied. No amount is refunded or offset for extra fuel in the tank.

If the reservation is cancelled up to 21 days prior to the first day of rental, the full amount of the deposit is refunded. 50 % penalty for cancellations made between 20 & 8 days prior to the first day of rental. 100% penalty for cancellations made within 7 days prior the first day of rental.

If the renter does not pick up the car at the agreed date and time, without prior written or oral notice of amendment or cancellation, Miles Away has the right to cancel the rental. In such a case Miles Away reserves the right to charge the renter the total amount of the reservation.

Upon delivery of the vehicle, the renter will be given the Rental Agreement, which he will have to check, read the attached terms and sign. The Rental Agreement will present all the services / insurance provided as well as any of the additional services / insurance that the renter has requested with the corresponding charges. It is very important that the renter checks the vehicle and report any damage it already has to it in order to avoid damage from previous rent. The renter will be required to sign a document at the time of pick up and drop off of the vehicle for any existing damage to the vehicle.

All fines and administrative penalties are charged to the renter.

Miles Away reserves the right to change prices and terms of rental without prior notice.

In case of any dispute, the court of Athens is responsible for resolving them.

The agency has no obligation to return money before the expiry of the agreed lease.

VAT (24%) is not included in any of the aforementioned prices.

Third Party Insurance: All the car drivers authorized by Miles Away are exempt for damages that occur to the rental car because of fire and are insured with third party liability for death & injuries up to € 1.300.000,00 and third party damage up to € 1.300.000,00 – Miles Away vehicle excluded. They are also covered with personal accident insurance, which provides driver cover up to € 12,000.00 for death, total or partial incapacity. All three insurance coverage sections are subject to the general terms of the Miles Away contract with its Insurance Company and the cost is included in the rental price.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): The liability of the leasee for damage to the rental vehicle may be reduced, provided that the Highway Code is not violated, to the minimum charge of € 750,00 for categories A, B, C, CD, E or € 1.500,00 for categories F, U by paying the amount of € 10,00 per day of rental. If the CDW is not included in the price and is not purchased, the leasee will be responsible for the total value of the vehicle in case of damage. The responsibility amount includes repair, storage and car loss usage expenses.

Theft Waiver (TW): This is an optional service which, if accepted by the leasee, can limit his liability for theft of the Miles Away rental car to € 750,00 for categories A, B, C, CD, E, F, U by paying € 2,50 per day of rental. The leasee is not covered in case of theft of all or part of the car caused by own negligence (e.g. if the car is left unlocked or with the key on the ignition). The liability amount is paid by the leasee regardless of his culpability.

No insurance coverage is applicable:

• During the transportation of the vehicle by ship
• If the driver is verifiably under the influence of alcohol or narcotics
• For damage caused by driving on unpaved roads
• For damage to the underside, wheels, tires, mirrors, antenna, window glasses and interior
• For loss of personal belongings within the vehicle
• For accidents caused by a driver not registered in the lease
• For loss or destruction of a vehicle key
• For losing or destroying Navi GPS devices, child seats or other additional equipment

1. Take pictures of the accident
2. Call the police
3. Record names and addresses from eyewitnesses
4. Do not accept any responsibility for the accident until the responsibilities have been imputed by the officers
5. Communicate urgently by telephone or other short means with the company
6. Keep a record of all necessary information for the accident (other driver’s name, car registration number, etc.)
7. To submit to the company, within 24 hours of the accident, all relevant details describing the incident

The costs occurring for damages or loss of the car is paid even if the renter is covered by insurance from his credit card or third party insurance company. In this case, the renter is obliged to pay to Miles Away the entire cost of repairing or replacing the car, which he can then claim for himself from his credit card or other insurance provider.

In every car rental, only the declared driver is covered by the above insurance policies. If other drivers are to drive the rented vehicle, they must be declared in the lease contract at the start of the rental. Required documents are a government issued ID card or passport and driving license in force.
Charge for each additional driver: € 5,00 per day

Miles Away reserves the right, depending on availability, to change the agreed car rental model, with another model of the same or bigger category.

It is prohibited, driving in regions other than Sifnos, visiting Panagia Poulati and Vroulidia areas using the rented vehicle, driving on dirt roads and generally misuse is not acceptable.

During the rental period the car is forbidden to use:

1. By any person below the age of 23
2. By any person who has not or has acquired a license in less than 12 months
3. For driving lessons
4. In breach of this agreement
5. To carry passengers or things for remuneration
6. To carry more passengers than is required by the marketing authorization*
7. To carry heavy objects or commodities with heavy smell or drugs or weapons.
8. For towing another car or trailer
9. In racing events, etc.

Charges of up to € 98,00 are applicable for cleaning fees on vehicles that will be returned with excessively dirty interior and trunk (e.g. stains from food, coffee, hair, sand, etc.) indicating misuse. In case of damage because of the renter (e.g. burning) there will be a corresponding charge depending on the damage.

The renter has an obligation for the entire duration of rental to protect the car and to check its mechanical condition, oil, water, etc. as well as check to the condition of the tires and if the car is safe when moving.

The renter is liable and obliged to compensate the company for damage caused by lack of attention.The renter is not entitled to make modifications to the car, to perform mechanical or other work, to replace any parts or violate of the odometer. Any violation of the above will result in his / her criminal prosecution.

In the event of an accident there is a non-refundable charge of € 62.00.

The renter assumes full responsibility for any traffic code violations and is liable to pay any debts to the competent authorities. Otherwise, the total cost occurring from the violation will be charged plus the amount referred to as “Management Expenses”.

In the event of removal of the driving plates during the rental period, the renter will be charged the rental until the receipt of the plates by the competent department.
