The Pristine White Paros…

Paros is a popular destination both in the Cyclades and throughout Greece. The island of Paros is located in the center of the Cyclades cluster, between Naxos and Antiparos. It is a destination for both young people seeking entertainment and organized beaches, as well as for families looking for more secluded options.
Paros is one of the larger islands of the Cyclades and attracts both young people seeking fun and families and couples. The capital of Paros is Parikia, also known as Chora, which is the island’s main port.

A hallmark of the island is the Church of Panagia Ekatontapyliani, an impressive complex located in Parikia, which, according to tradition, was built by Emperor Constantine the Great.
Above Parikia, the Hill of the Castle (Kastro) dominates, hosting the remnants of the Venetian fortifications. The castle was built in the 13th century by Marco Sanudo to ensure the city’s defensive protection.

What to Do

Paros, along with Naxos, is the number one destination for surfers. On many beaches, such as Chrissi Akti (Golden Beach), New Golden Beach, Tsoukalia, Santa Maria, and Punda, you will find professional and amateur surfers riding the waves and strong winds. If you’d like to try it yourself, you can contact one of the schools found on the beaches.
Paros is also famous for its excellent cheeses and select varieties of vineyards, including the red Mandilaria and white Monemvasia. You must try xinomizithra and ladotyri cheeses, and accompany your meze with “souma,” a type of tsipouro produced in Paros, instead of ouzo. As you leave, we recommend buying wine from a local winery.

Where to Go

Parikia is built on the northwestern side of Paros in a picturesque bay. Chora is beautiful and charming, with its narrow cobbled streets and white-washed houses. Here, you will find hotels, tourist offices, car rentals, shops, and more. In the greater area of Chora, you’ll find the most important archaeological monuments of Paros, including the Archaic cemetery, the sanctuary of Asclepius and Pythian Apollo, remains of Hellenistic period houses, and a pottery workshop from the Hellenistic period.
Just 10 kilometers from Paros lies Naoussa, a bustling tourist resort and a unique seaside destination. The town is built around the picturesque harbor and is a true gem for Paros and the entire Cyclades. Many choose it as their place of stay.
Paros has several beaches to suit all tastes and moods. Depending on what you’re looking for in a beach, you can choose either a quiet, unorganized one or an organized beach with beach bars and water sports. The most famous beaches in Paros are Livadia, Kolymbithres, Chrissi Akti (Golden Beach), Monastiri, and Punda.
