Lonely Planet reveals Corfu’s hidden secrets

Popular for its beaches and crystal clear waters, Corfu invites us to “get lost” in its mountain villages, taste local products and hike in the numerous trails it offers, writes the online edition of Lonely Planet.

Anita Isalska, travel editor of Lonely Planet, presents to her readers the lesser known attractions of Corfu that are worth discovering.

The journalist takes her readers on a journey to the historical monuments of the island, such as the Old Fortress of the city, Angelokastro and the Byzantine Castle in Cassiopeia, the village of the Old Perithia and the monastery in Paleokastritsa.

Also, Isalska writes about the island’s gastronomy and recommends local dishes. At the same time, among other activities, she suggests kitesurfing on Halikounas beach and bird-watching at the lagoon of Korissia.
